A certified financial planner and former president of Hayden Wealth Management, Mr. Hayden has been active in the industry for more than 50 years. Recently selling his business to a bank in 2007, his extensive career in private practice was founded in San Rafael, California, between 1969 and 1983, shortly after exiting the U.S. Air Force as a Major.
A prolific speaker and writer, Mr. Hayden has spoken at various conventions and has conducted financial programs for numerous profit and non-profit organizations over the years. In 2015, he was honored to present at the annual exposition in Chengdu, China, as a keynote speaker. He has appeared on numerous national news and financial television programs, including Bloomberg, NBC and CNBC, and had been a regular guest on CNBC's television series, "The Money Club," a business news talk show that aired until 1997. Furthermore, Mr. Hayden was a contributing editor and weekly columnist for CNBC.com and TheStreet.com, as well as a contributing author to several scholarly journals including the Journal of Financial Planning. Most notably, he published several books, including "Money: Use It or Lose It" in 1980, "The Process of Financial Planning" in 1981, "How to Build Using Seminars" in 1988 and, among others, "Getting an Investment Game Plan…Creating It…Working It…Winning It" in 2003 through John Wiley & Sons.
Highly regarded in his professional community, Mr. Hayden was active on the board of directors of the Board Standards for Certified Financial Planners, was on the board of regents of the College of Financial Planning in Denver, and chaired legacy and planned giving for Southern Connecticut's American Cancer Society. He was also a founder and chaired the National Endowment for Financial Education.
An alumnus of Wheaton College, Mr. Hayden received a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy in 1959, followed by postgraduate coursework at New York University, the University of Oregon, American University and the University of Southern California between 1960 and 1967. After completing his undergraduate degree, he began serving his country, serving to Major in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1968 and in the Reserves from 1969 to 1971. He has been a certified financial planner since 1978.
Mr. Hayden has supported his career through membership with the Financial Planning Association, where he notably served as a national board of directors member. He was founding President of the Hudson Valley FPA Chapter.
Recognized for his achievements by the Financial Planning Association, Mr. Hayden received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020.
