After more than 15 successful years in orchard farming, Mr. Brandt transitioned toward the field of banking. Acquired by Rainier National Bank in Seattle in 1958, he rose in rank from the position of an agricultural lending officer to the executive vice president of the administrative division. He retired from the organization in 1991. Mr. Brandt also served as the vice chairperson of Security Pacific Bank of Washington and as the president of Security Pacific Automation Company of Washington.
Apart from his full-time commitments, Mr. Brandt had the opportunity to serve on the board of directors and as the chairperson of the Northwest Automated Clearing House in Seattle. Additionally, he served on the board of Heritage College in Toppenish, Washington for 12 years, 6 years as Chairman of the Board. Drawing on his years of expertise, Mr. Brandt also served as a management consultant in the orchard industry and electronic payments industry.
An expert in anticipating problems in the field and find solutions for them, Mr. Brandt always enjoyed surmounting a difficult challenge. Well known for his leadership skills, he enjoyed managing people and took great pleasure in developing teams that would work cohesively to achieve their target goals. Some of Mr. Brandt's other keys to success over the years have included remaining aware of new trends and practices within the industry, as well as remaining focused on his objectives at hand.
Mr. Brandt was active with the Wapato Lions Club in Wapato, Washington, serving as President for one year. In support of the banking industry, he served as President of the Seattle Clearing House Association. He also served on the board of the National Clearing House Association, one year as Chairman of the board, and served on the board as Chairman of Accel, a four-state electronic payment and ATM switch. He is a member of the board of the American Bankers Association National Automation and Operations Committee, and the ANSI X-9 committee. Other local commitments have included serving on the board and as Treasurer of Junior Achievement in Seattle. Mr. Brandt also served on the board of The Rainbow Society Corporation which owns and operates a fraternity house near the campus of the University of Washington, Seattle, WA, six years as President.
Mr. Brandt pursued a formal education at the University of Washington where he acquired a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing. He also served to the rank of a captain in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1975. Outside of his vocational circles, Mr. Brandt enjoys such diversions as fishing, hunting, boating and horseback riding. He is married and has four children.
