Growing up in Nigeria, Dr. Olaniyi witnessed significant strife and turmoil during the civil war. In light of these experiences, she developed a desire to help others reach their greatest potential and reduce painful path to reaching life desired goals. She migrated to the United States after obtaining Diploma as a Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife in Nigeria and worked for 13 years under various capacities in different hospitals. On getting to the United States, she obtained Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Family Health from Pace University, New York. Later, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership for Higher Education from Capella University. Her doctoral research focused on mentoring influences and the enculturation of leadership qualities among adjunct faculty.
Dr. Olaniyi began her career as a Registered Nurse in Metropolitan in 1991 and later continued her career in Brookdale emergency room in Brooklyn. After about 9.5 years at the bedside, she later took a nursing leader position in Lutheran Hospital, Brooklyn and in New York Queens Hospital as a nursing care coordinator between 2001 and 2003. She also worked at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and a Teaching Hospital NP in the NICU for about 9 years. During this time she also gave back to her nursing field by serving as an adjunct professor in Clinical practice at Cumberland County College in New Jersey in 2010 and as a research coordinator at the National Open University of Nigeria between 2013 and 2014. Today, Dr. Olaniyi is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Family First NP in Family Health P.C., in Forest Hills, and Manhattan, New York since 2017.
She later ran a solo practice in the Bronx and brought in well over $400.000 per year for the group. She stated that was the climax of her believing enough in herself to start her own family practice later from the experience and business skills she got running someone else's business. As a nurse practitioner, Dr. Olaniyi oversees all of the operations of her group practice. She also runs a nonprofit organization, Homeless and Orphaned Children International, which supports homeless children locally and internationally. Due to her considerable empathy and expertise, she has worked on mission trips in Haiti, Ghana and Nigeria. As a community leader, she has also focused her career on helping others achieve health, wealth and abundance in all aspects of life. Additionally, as a respected voice in her field, she has served on several community and industry boards.
For her efforts over the years, Dr. Olaniyi has received the Impacting Life Award and she was recognized as a Worldwide Health Leader by the International Nursing Organization. She attributes her professional success to her faith and the support of her family. She maintains professional affiliation with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the National Association of Nigerian Nurses in North America and the National Association of Professional Women. Looking toward the future, Dr. Olaniyi plans to establish a consulting practice for nurse practitioners. She would also like to continue facilitating change in the health care industry.
She is the author of the book "Starting Your Nurse Practitioner Business: Step by Step Guide."
