Supported by decades of practiced expertise, Mr. Baxter excels as a civilian contract worker with Service Source Inc., which hires people with disabilities to work as contract workers at the U.S. Army Mountain Post at Fort Carson, Colorado. After more than five years with the organization, he retired in 2020 but continues to work between two and three days a week in order to stay active. Previously, Mr. Baxter gained valuable experience with such companies as World Vision, Wycliffe Bible Translators, Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International and St. Jude Heritage Medical Group.
An expert in his field, Mr. Baxter earned a bachelor's degree from California State University East Bay. Alongside his professional career, he is a 30-year member of Toastmasters International through which he has won many contests for his storytelling abilities. For many years, he was told by friends that he should become a children's book author. However, he put it off for many years until he had a pulmonary embolism. His brush with death convinced him to live his life to the fullest and pursue his love of writing. Ever since, Mr. Baxter has written more than 100 books for children, including "W.E.B. Tales," a compilation of short stories.
In light of his outstanding body of work, Mr. Baxter has been featured on radio and television shows on countless occasions and was invited to sing the National Anthem at several sporting events. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is most proud of overcoming ridicule as a child growing up with developmental disabilities, as well as his Christian faith. In conjunction with his work as an author, he contributes to those less fortunate through Gateway Presbyterian Church and the Arc Pikes Peak Region. For his professional body of work, he has been recognized numerous times, earning the Employee of the Year Award and a President's Award for Service Excellence from Service Source in 2015 and an Achiever's Award through The Arc Pikes Peak Region in 2020. Looking toward the future, Mr. Baxter intends to experience the continued success of his writing career.
