In 1981, Ms. Carter entered the financial planning industry with Connecticut General Sagemark. She established Mary Carter Financial Services in 1988, specializing in estate and transfer planning as well as general wealth management. She prides herself on understanding each client's unique family dynamic, and helping them to create the best plan for their specific goals. In 1988, Mary Carter Financial Services became a branch of Raymond James, and in the decades since, Ms. Carter has flourished in the role of branch manager in addition to seeing individual clients.
Ms. Carter has found success as a member of the Raymond James Chairman's Council, one of the company's most exclusive honors, for nearly 20 years. Passionate about encouraging women in the financial planning industry, she founded the Women's Leadership Alliance in 2017. Ms. Carter has been recognized as one of Raymond James' 2016 Women of Distinction, and was invited to attend the 2017 Barron's Top Independent Women Advisors Summit.
Ms. Carter's charitable involvement extends beyond the financial planning industry. In 2001, she helped establish the Women's Giving Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of girls and women in Northern Florida. Likewise, Ms. Carter is the honorary director emeritus of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Jacksonville, where she remains an active congregant.
