CHICAGO, IL, February 05, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert Channing Owens has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Inspired by his mother, who was a talented artist, Mr. Owens decided to attempt sketching at a young age. Soon thereafter, he discovered that his drawings were incredibly realistic and which thereby influenced his decision to pursue the field professionally. As a dedicated member of his community, Mr. Owens has had his artwork featured in 2017 at the annual gala for the 100 Black Men Chicago as an active donor. His principle works consist of photo realistic pencil portraits of figures of historical significance. He also works with various other mediums, including oil productions. His works have been on exhibition, and his talents have been frequently sought out by many. His current endeavors are based on works by commissioned patrons. As he has continued to gain notoriety, demand for his productions has continued to increase. He and many of his productions were recently featured in the Chicago Black Pages publication. Mr. Owens continues to be commissioned as a portrait artist by various notable professionals.
Mr. Owens' professional and educational background began in the field of psychology. After attending the University of Illinois as undergraduate student, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Subsequent to receiving his undergraduate education, he went on to attend the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and received a Masters Degree in Health Care Administration. Pursuant to these attainments, he performed professional roles initially as a therapist and subsequently as a Health Service Administrator. Following these professional experiences, Mr. Owens found himself to be a subject of the 2012 Lewis class action lawsuit vs. the city of Chicago which revolved around discrimination in hiring on the Fire Department. As part of the settlement, Mr. Owens was hired and now serves as a Fireman/EMT. In concert with his professional training, Mr. Owens continues to provide therapeutic services on a part time basis.
Personal accomplishments by Mr. Owens have been exemplary as a well. Owing to his dedication as a father to his two sons, he was featured on the front page of the Chicago Tribune as well as having a full cover story inside in 2016. Mr. Owens also has historical experience in the movie industry. His accomplishments include past supporting movie roles, as well as a costar role in the 1996 motion picture "Reasons". Mr. Owens' costar role was that of the character "young JD". This role was played opposite to rap music star MC Eight, actress LisaRaye McCoy, actor Mel Jackson and the late comedian/actor Bernie Mac. As a result of his exceptional professional achievements, he has been featured in several noteworthy publications including the Chicago Defender as well as having been interviewed and featured on a television program. Mr. Owens continues to be commissioned as a portrait artist by various notable professionals.
As a dedicated member of his community, Mr. Owens has continued to support and dedicate himself to promoting the welfare of others, and in particular children. Over the years, he has attributed his professional success to his personal discipline, God, his father and mother, and the support of his family. Looking toward the future, Mr. Owens plans to retire while continuing to work as an artist and psychotherapist.
