Born in Budapest, Hungary, Mr. Antalffy began a lengthy and storied career in engineering in South Australia, working as a mechanical engineer for T. O'Connor & Sons during the late 1960s. From there, he traveled to Toronto, Canada, and gained valuable expertise with Lummus Company and A.G. McKee & Company as a vessel engineer and senior vessel engineer between 1970 and 1973, at which point he immigrated to the United States. For more than 45 years, he has excelled in executive positions of increasing responsibility with Fluor Enterprises, including senior vessel engineer, principal engineer, supervising mechanical engineer and mechanical engineering director, project manager, project director, executive director of process technology and engineering, and finally as a consultant to the company.
Today, Mr. Antalffy has worked on a range of projects as a Fluor senior fellow, senior mechanical engineering director and executive director of process technology and engineering. Throughout his career, he has worked on projects in 22 different countries. In a career filled with highlights, he is especially proud of becoming a lifetime fellow with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, where he sits on several technical committees, and obtaining 13 patents in the field of delayed coking.
A registered professional engineer in the State of Texas, a chartered engineer and APEC engineer in Australia, Mr. Antalffy earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Adelaide in 1970 and a Master of Business Administration from Sam Houston State University ten years later in 1980. In light of his considerable expertise, he has contributed to over 120 articles and conference papers over the years, including "The Design of Lifting Attachments for the Erection of Large Diameter and Heavy Wall Pressure Vessels," "Design Consideration for the Erection of Heavy Wall and Large Diameter Pressure Vessels," "Comparison of Pressure Vessel Codes ASME Section VIII and EN13445" and "Transient Thermal Finite Element Analysis Based on Field Measured Data and the Impact on Fatigue."
In light of his professional body of work, Mr. Antalffy has been honored many times, earning a Lifetime Achievement Award through the Hydrocarbon Processing Journal, an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, a Marquis Who's Who Humanitarian Award and features in notable publications such as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.
