Rev. Dr. Beck earned a Bachelor of Arts in comprehensive social science and political science at Capital University in 1958, a Bachelor of Arts in divinity at Lutheran Theological Seminary in 1962 and a Doctor of Philosophy in biblical studies and the New Testament at Princeton Theological Seminary in 1967. Additionally, he obtained an Honorary Doctorate from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in 1990. Likewise, Rev. Dr. Beck was ordained to ministry through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in 1966.
Backed by several professional organizations, Rev. Dr. Beck has been active as a supportive member of the Society of Biblical Literature, the American Academy of Religion, the American Schools of Oriental Research, the Christian Study Group on Jews and Judaism and the Association of Church Teachers. In 1982, he was the recipient of a Distinguished Faculty Award by the Texas Lutheran College Alumni Association. He later accepted a Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation Award in 1992, which recognizes 10 outstanding full-time teachers annually within the state of Texas. A celebrated Marquis listee, Rev.
