An accomplished management professional with a proven track record of success in engineering and technical operations within the telecommunications industry, Mr. Goodrum has excelled as the head of field technical strategy and operations for Google Fiber since 2019. In his present position, he has lead the development and improvement of installation, repair and OSP maintenance in the field and driven strategic initiatives to improve performance, efficiency and cost structures. Mr. Goodrum previously served as the head of Atlanta metropolitan technical operations between 2018 and 2019.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Goodrum flourished as a senior vice president with Wave Broadband, a senior director of technical operations and engineering for Charter Communications, the owner and operator of USA Mobile Drug Testing Southeast and the senior vice president of network operations for Insight Communications and Time Warner Cable. Additionally, he has found success through his work with such companies as Carolina Broadband, MediaOne/Continental Cablevision and AT&T Broadband. During the late 1980s, Mr. Goodrum became involved in the technical field as a sergeant and manager of Avionics Work Center Operations in the United States Marine Corps.
Although his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Goodrum is especially proud of building two large-scale network operations centers, including for Charter Communications in St. Louis, Missouri between 2001 and 2006 and Insight Communications in Louisville, Kentucky. He remains affiliated with the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers. In conjunction with his exemplary work, Mr. Goodrum has contributed to his community as a life and personal development coach with GoodLife Coaching, and by volunteering life coaching services for the under privileged through the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the YMCA.
In light of his considerable expertise, Mr. Goodrum was interviewed for an article regarding change management in Smart Business Magazine in 2009. Additionally, he has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Ethnic Executives of Telecommunications and among the Most Influential Minorities in Cable through CableFax Magazine. In 2009, Mr. Goodrum was also honored as a Top 40 Visionary, Innovator and Empowering Broker Under 40 by Multichannel News.
An expert in his field, Mr. Goodrum has completed an executive management course in strategic marketing and operations and an executive management course in corporate leadership at Harvard Business School in 2007 and 2010, respectively. Driven by his personal motto, "Onwards and upwards with courage," Mr. Goodrum intends to continue building upon his legacy so that he may leave the world better than he found it.
