FAYETTE, IA, February 12, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Juliann Ahrens has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With limited career options available for women in the 1960s, Ms. Ahrens decided to begin her career in education. She received an Associate of Arts in English and music, followed by a Bachelor of Arts from St. Olaf College in 1965. Subsequently, she later earned a Master of Arts in speech and English from Drake University. Mrs. Ahrens taught school briefly right out of college and then started working for a lighting/electrical company in Des Moines. She not only helped with book work, but she also sold lightbulbs, ballasts and batteries for a couple of years.
After taking time off to raise two children, she moved to Norwalk, Iowa, and completed her work at Drake University. She was then hired to work for a public utility in Des Moines and eventually was named Local Manager in NE Iowa. She was also a District Manager in NE Iowa and was promoted to Regional Manager in Southern Minnesota.
She and her husband moved back to NE Iowa where her husband taught school at North Fayette High School. Julie began working as a mortgage loan officer at Decorah Bank and also worked with marketing. In 2001, Julie started her work as Academic Advisor at Upper Iowa University.
Today, she has excelled as vice president of the North Fayette Valley School District since 2019, having also been sitting on the board of directors since 2006. In her current position, Ms. Ahrens works with the school administration to ensure a smooth flow of operations. During her tenure, she has developed a large degree of trust between students, teachers, the administration and the Board of Education.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Ms. Ahrens is also a licensed pastor with the Randalia United Methodist Church and the Union Sumner United Methodist Church. She attributes her professional success to her influential mentors who always supported and encouraged her professionally. She has also learned significantly from her employees over the years. Looking toward the future, Ms. Ahrens plans to continue with her ministry duties and living by the tenets of her Christian faith.
