BRADENTON, FL, February 17, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Patricia Ann Engebrecht with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mrs. Engebrecht celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A versatile and longstanding figure in multiple fields, Patricia Ann Engebrecht found much success with her written works, including her acclaimed 2012 book, "When Love Is Not Enough: Chronicles of LauraJo." "When Love is Not Enough" was sourced from LauraJo's journals between 1976 and 1986 in addition to her mother's personal commentary of searching for doctors and institutions that could help their suffering daughter. The ordeal of identifying a treatment for this mysterious disease laced with facing the stigma associated with the medical profession's proclamation of "poor parenting" was emotionally devastating for Ms. Engebrecht and family.
Having mustered the courage and strength to write "When Love is Not Enough" over the course of 20 years, Ms. Engebrecht incorporated her daughter's artwork, music, poetry and personal photographs to paint a beautiful yet heartbreaking portrait of a family's battle against an invisible illness: Borderline Personality Disorder/BPD.
Prior to writing this incredibly personal and emotional story, Ms. Engebrecht established herself as an author through a pair of young adult novels. She made her literary debut in 1973 with "Under the Haystack," which was published by Thomas Nelson Inc. and later became nominated for the John Newbery Medal by the Association for Library Services to children.
Utilizing her creative talents to produce poetry, short stories and articles, Ms. Engebrecht subsequently penned "Promise of Moonstone" for Beaufort Books in 1983.
Ms. Engebrecht began her career as a secretary at Oregon State University from 1955 to 1956.
Soon thereafter, she served as a secretary with Bendix Aviation in Michigan from 1959 to 1960.
Moreover, she worked as a freelance writer operating out of Oregon and New York between 1964 and 1975. Since 2012 Ms. Engebrecht has been active as the owner of Pat's Publishing, through which she distributes and markets her latest publications in partnership with Createspace/Amazon.
From 1983 to 2000 Ms. Engebrecht excelled as the president and owner of L&L Developers Inc. a family owned construction company in Victor, New York. Renowned as one of the first women in the building industry in the Rochester region, she flourished in land development, home design and construction in this position, including notably raising the funds, hiring the designer and construction crew to create the Tennis Club of Rochester's Platform Tennis facility. She became the club's teaching professional, and competed in local and state tournaments in the burgeoning sport. Beyond her primary responsibilities during this time, Ms. Engebrecht was an active member of Rochester Home Builders Association from 1988 to 1992.
Before embarking on her professional ventures, Ms. Engebrecht pursued an education at Milwaukie High School in Oregon graduating in 1954 in the top 10% of her class.
Ms. Engebrecht has accrued several accolades throughout her impressive career. "When Love is Not Enough" was notably recognized with the Pinnacle Achievement Award in 2012. For her exemplary efforts with L&L Developers, she won the coveted Landscaping Award and Designing Lighting Award in two different Homearama Shows.
Ms. Engebrecht was selected for inclusion in the 24th edition of Who's Who in the East.
Always harboring a confidence in her own professional abilities, Ms. Engebrecht attributes her longevity in her respective fields to her ability to adapt and a husband who believed in her. With his help, she would always find an alternative direction to success regardless of the obstacles in her path.
Never afraid to approach her work with a hands-on attitude, she was always able to help provide inspiration and a work ethic for her family launching L&L Developers as a means to build a new home after losing the family home to the massive torrent of water released by a break in the Barge Canal in the Bushnell Basin area in Pittsford, New York in 1974.
Above all, Ms. Engebrecht has been a dedicated mother of three children, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The trusting and loving relationship with her husband and his faith in her has created a beautiful journey for the family for over 65 years.
