While coming of age, Ms. Cabot found herself surrounded by the grandeur of nature and often wandered at length through her grandmother's botanical garden. Drawing from her childhood inspiration, she felt compelled to express her wonder through art, eschewing monochromatic colors and straightforward lines in favor of bold and popping watercolor vistas that emphasize light and the vivid character of nature. She has sought to pass on her knowledge of the craft to aspiring artists, serving as a teacher on behalf of the Roswell Visual Arts Center, a frequent host of workshops and ongoing classes three times a week in her studio. Ms. Cabot has also been recruited as a speaker on various topics in her field, and notably participated on a panel of six women to speak at the Women's History Commemoration at Kennesaw State University in 2016, among similar engagements.
Ms. Cabot is a self-taught artist and pursued a formal education at Georgia State University. During the course of her academic efforts, she learned a great deal from her friend and mentor, Joseph Samuel Perrin, who established the university's School of Art and Design.
To commemorate her accomplishments, Ms. Cabot has been the recipient of many awards and acknowledgements for her artistry. In addition to winning numerous awards at local, region and national exhibitions between 1971 and 2020, she was recognized among women who have made a significant contribution to the visual arts by Georgia Women in the Visual Arts, and accepted 5 Botanical Art Awards from the Philadelphia Flower Show Awards in 2000, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. To remain aware of current trends, Ms. Cabot maintains her membership with such organizations as the Georgia Watercolor Society and the Southern Watercolor Society.
As a painter, Ms. Cabot attributes her success to having found her passion which, in turn has become her reason for living each day to its fullest.
