Ms. Bailey retired as an assistant corporate counsel of the Town of West Hartford, Connecticut, in 2003 after more than 15 years of excellence with the municipality. Well regarded for her indelible accomplishments, she represented the town in matters of labor and employment law, workers compensation and, among other relative areas, zoning law. Ms. Bailey formerly worked for over 3 years with a private law firm from 1983 and 1986.
Serving her community during much of the 1970s, Ms. Bailey was an officer of the Thames Valley Council for Community Action in Norwich, Connecticut. She also chaired the United Way of Greater Hartford's West Hartford campaign and was active on its allocation panel. In support of her career, Ms. Bailey was actively engaged as a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and the Hartford County Bar Association from 1983 until 2005.
Ms. Bailey received a Bachelor of Arts at Boston College in 1966. Returning to college years later, she was inspired to study law by her grandfather, who was a federal judge, as well as her father, uncle and husband, who also followed similar paths. Graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Connecticut in 1983, Ms. Bailey was subsequently admitted to practice by the Connecticut Bar Association and the U.S. District Court of Connecticut.
A great believer in group practice, Ms. Bailey much prefers a small setting of about 10 to 20 attorneys. A practice of this capacity, she believes, is capable of doing the most good and is less focused on business models and expectations. In 1977, Ms. Bailey was recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation from the United Way of Greater Hartford for her volunteer efforts. A celebrated Marquis listee, she has been cited in the ninth edition of Who's Who in American Law.
