Dr. Bland has earned distinction as the director of Christian Medical Clinic of Grand Lake, Oklahoma, since 2001. Drawing upon the example of his father, who had aspired to become a doctor in his own right, he has long been influenced by his desire to assist others in achieving positive health outcomes. To wit, Dr. Bland attended Union College, earning a Bachelor of Arts, and completed a Doctor of Medicine at Loma Linda University in 1968, after which he completed a medical internship at Porter Memorial Hospital.

In 2001, he founded the Christian Medical Clinic of Grand Lake to serve patients who did not qualify for employer or government insurance programs and could not afford to pay for care independently. The clinic notably collaborates with local medical providers to offer a range of medical, chiropractic, and dental screening services, faith-based counseling, and assistance programs for formulary drugs and durable medical goods to patients with a demonstrated need. The clinic could not have continued without the continued help of the community.
Dr. Bland was recognized for his humanitarian work in 2018 with a Loma Linda University Global Service Award, as well as a 40-year service award from Grove Integris Hospital in 2012. He is a founding member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and hopes to transition his practice to focus more on lifestyle medicine and community education in the coming years. In accounting for his standout success, he credits his propensity for hard work, dedication and an abiding adherence to his Christian faith, as well as the constant support of his wife Dolores of 55 years. Dr. Bland remains active in his faith community and local human services charities, volunteering with a food bank and serving as the head elder and a lay pastor at his local Seventh-day Adventist church.
