NEW HOPE, PA, March 02, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Stephen Rustom Mazda with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Mazda celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Mazda is a general securities principal and investment advisor representative with Cantella & Co., Inc., an independently owned broker/dealer and registered investment advisor firm based in Malden, Massachusetts. In position since 2000, he is an expert in his field, responsible for the research and management of private stock portfolios for clients, as well as helping them achieve their long-term goals.
Possessing a career more than 40 years in the making, Mr. Mazda came from Nationwide Discount Sleep Centers in Philadelphia, where he held the prominent positions of chief financial officer and owner for 10 years between 1989 and 1999. During his tenure, he successfully increased profits four-fold, annual revenues increased by over 350 percent, and he grew the business exponentially from nine to 50 stores and 230 employees. Among other accomplishments, he oversaw a $27 million buyout and real estate leaseback agreement for Nationwide. Mr. Mazda also worked as a 401(k) Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) specialist for American Trust Company of Hawaii, Inc., between 1984 and 1989, where he continues to serve as a consultant. Additionally, he spent two years with Barclay Associates shortly after college as a sales and marketing representative. Noting that it was a very influential time in his career, he garnered a reputation as a hardworking individual who aided in the improvement of an approach that resulted in an uptick in sales, retirement plans and insurance premiums.
An innovator in 401(k) investment strategy, Mr. Mazda is best known for developing the Profit and Asset Participation Plan, or PAPP, which is a hybrid 401(k) ESOP. In doing so, he observed the first 60 programs in the United States before lobbying to protect its legal status, resulting in over $5.3 trillion in 401(k) savings of Americans.
Inspired to work in his profession after reading the book "Think and Grow Rich," Mr. Mazda wanted to live out its philosophy and teach others how to do the same. In 2011, he wrote and produced a short financial education film, titled "401(k) Magic," which teaches young students about investments and financial planning. For his success, he earned an Award of Merit in 2011, as well as three Telly Film Festival Awards in the categories of education, children's audience and social issues. Likewise, he authored a sermon titled "Mother's Miracles and Mates," which he preached at the First Presbyterian Church in May 1985.
A frequent speaker in his field, Mr. Mazda has presented and hosted workshops at area schools. He also communicated a new 401(k) plan to the American Indians of the Confederated Tribe of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Oregon, which was an incredible experience for him. The event was covered by national press and acknowledged in a trade magazine called Pension and Investment Age with a feature article.
Mr. Mazda was born in Philadelphia. Raised by his loving parents, his father was notably born in Poone, India, and later achieved a degree at the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania. Deeply inspired by his father's motivation and desire for success, Mr. Mazda went on to graduate from William Penn Charter School, later attended Drew University, and Drexel University with a double major in finance in 1979. He also holds series 6, 7, 22, 24 and 63 security licenses and is a registered securities representative in over 20 states throughout the nation.
Backed by several industry-related organizations, Mr. Mazda is a member of the National Association of Security Dealers and the Association of Mature American Citizens. He was also a member of the United States Chamber of Commerce. Engaged in his community, he is recognized for establishing a scholarship fund in the name of Jake Dresden at William Penn Charter School.
