HARTLAND, MI, March 04, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joseph Balser has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Mr. Balser has been interested in the automotive industry from a young age. His father was a developer for General Motors, and Mr. Balser enjoyed watching his father develop unique designs at the GM parts fabrication building. He father's work was shown at the GM Autorama show for many years in the early 1950's.
Mr. Balser holds an electrical engineering technical degree from a radio, electronics and television school in Detroit, Michigan, and he completed coursework in electrical engineering at the Lawrence Technical Institute.
Mr. Balser commenced his career in rocket mission control systems for Ling Temco Vought in 1965. He also worked at General Motors as a crash safety engineer, as well as becoming a member of the Michigan Air National Guard Reserves for six years specializing in jet aircraft camera systems. A former manager of the GM crash dummy laboratory between 1983 and 1998 in which he retired for GM after 32 years developing vehicle safety programs. Mr. Balser has excelled as president of Balser & Associates since 2002.
Throughout his career, Mr. Balser has been credited with designing the first GM crash safety data system for cars during 1970. His developed data system had 120 solid state channels and became the industry allowing the US government to use its crash data in developing IS Government safety standards. The data system was very durable having gold contacts throughout and as exclusively used for 22 years recording crash test data in 1000's of crash safety tests in which many were used to develop air bags and safety belts. He also managed the development of the Hybrid III crash test dummy family for General Motors. His crash test dummies ultimately became US government regulated after which becoming the global industry certification standard.
Mr. Balser has developed expertise in automotive test engineering, data analysis, and crash evaluations while supervising several areas. In addition to his primary work, he also offers consulting services for various engineering groups around the world. For his efforts over the years, he has received numerous accolades from General Motors and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Most notably, he received the Instrumentation Award for Advanced Engineering Continuous Improvement Process from General Motors in 1990 and the Recognition Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers in 1997.
Mr. Balser has attributed his professional success over the years to self-motivation and his driving desire to hold the best standard for automotive safety. In his spare time, he is an avid table tennis and racquetball player, and notably competed in the Michigan Senior Olympics, receiving three medals in table tennis and racquetball in 2018.
