After receiving a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in allied health from Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Salem began her career as a professor and researcher at Al-Quds University in Palestine. She also served as the director assistant of the university until the political conflict in the country made it unsafe for her and her family to remain there. She eventually decided to relocate back to Virginia to continue her career in education. She now serves as a teacher for Chesterfield County public schools. Currently, Dr. Salem had completed her Doctor of Philosophy in educational leadership and instructional curriculum development at North-Central University.
For her efforts in education, Dr. Salem received the Teaching Excellence Award from a U.S. aide in the Middle East. Likewise, she was bestowed with a Teaching Excellence Award from the Ministry of Education in the Middle East. Also, Dr. Salem was awarded from Virginia Association of Science Teachers for the Outstanding Middle School Science Teacher. Throughout her career, Dr. Salem has attributed her success to her ability to adapt to different roles. She also bears a great passion for her students and work. Looking toward the future, Dr. Salem plans to continue her career in education.
