Mr. Morgan initially developed an interest in education while tutoring in the English department and working as a graduate teacher assistant in college. Upon his graduation, he was hired to teach at Catherine Academy in Alabama in 1984, which followed by several academic appointments in South Carolina teaching English at Morris College, the University of South Carolina-Sumter, Sumter Area Technical College and Jacksonville State University in Alabama. In 1991, he seized the opportunity to work internationally as an English as a Second Language Instructor at the Northwest Armed Forces Hospital's training center in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Collaborating with Keith Mitchell, a training consultant, Mr. Morgan also served as acting director, a post in which he was responsible for a proposal for a computer laboratory for ESL students.
Over the next 20 years, Mr. Morgan's career continually progressed, accepting teaching positions with Lockheed-Martin Middle East Services under the Ministry of Defense in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the University of Nizwa in Oman, the University of Ha'il in 2003 in Ha'il, Saudi Arabia, and the American University of Kuwait, to name a few. He also worked as a technical service instructor for Raytheon Information Intelligence Services in Oklahoma between 2016 and 2017. Mr. Morgan concluded his professional efforts with S&K Aerospace at the King Abdulaziz Air Base in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, in 2019, a role in which he was responsible for teaching cadets in preparation for travel to study in the United States.
Apart from his work in the classroom, Mr. Morgan was active on multiple committees in support of his career. He was notably recruited as a reviewer for the presentation proposals for the annual convention of the International TESOL Association from 2010 to 2016. Mr. Morgan also wrote testing and course materials in addition to helping to develop a formal Test of English as a Foreign Language (better known as TOEFL) review course between 2008 and 2009 for students planning to enter the Pre-MBA program at Prince Sultan University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Early in his career, Mr. Morgan spent several years in newspaper correspondence as a news and features writer for The Mobile Press-Register in Mobile, Alabama, and The Advertiser-Journal in Montgomery, Alabama, between 1985 and 1987. He also served as an editor for The Bell Ringer, the critical thinking journal of Morris College, from 1987 to 1989 and more recently as the co-editor of the Raytheon Training Academy monthly newsletter in Lawton, Oklahoma, 2016-2017. Affiliated with numerous professional organizations, Mr. Morgan is a member of the Modern Language Association, the South Atlantic Modern Language Association, the National Council of Teachers of English and the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, among others.
Mr. Morgan initially pursued an education at Troy University, earning a bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, in 1977. He then continued his studies at the University of Alabama, obtaining a master's degree in 1979 and completed postgraduate coursework between 1979 and 1984. Notably, Mr. Morgan holds a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) Cambridge University via the British Council-Kuwait and became certified by the Defense Language Institute (DLI) at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, to teach the DLI course.
