Backed by a wealth of professional experience in human resources of the medical field, Mr. Scott has notably served as the director of diversity and inclusion at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center since 2012. Dedicated to building an increasingly diverse workforce, Roswell Park has exceeded both internal and external goals for workplace diversity and inclusion under his leadership. Further involved with the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor, Mr. Scott remains active as a member of the executive board for Evergeen Health Services, the chairman of the Internship Committee Health Sciences Charter School, and an executive member of the Racial Equity Roundtable of Western New York.
Mr. Scott initially obtained a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the State University of New York at Potsdam in 1995. Subsequently, he began his career with Chase Manhattan Bank, working in home equity sales in 1996. He later excelled in a number of positions with at Bryant & Stratton College, including as an adjunct instructor from 1988 to 2003, a career services representative from 1998 to 2000 and a financial services counselor from 1997 to 1998. In 2004, Mr. Scott flourished as a human resources generalist for Universal Healthcare, An Excellus Company, and a placement supervisor for Burns Personnel.
A recruiter for ASG in 2004 and Fiserv Lending Solutions from 2005 to 2008, Mr. Scott returned to his academic efforts, earning a Master of Science in adult education and human resources development from the University at Buffalo, a part of the State University of New York system, in 2009. Prior to his current role with Roswell Park Comprehensive Care Center, he had maintained his involvement as a human resources generalist of special projects for Uni-Select USA from 2010 to 2011. The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Mr. Scott lives by the motto, "Make every moment count towards something good."
The son of a reverend and a human resources leader, Mr. Scott's observation of his parents throughout his youth greatly influenced his decision to seek a career in his chosen field. Looking toward the future, he hopes to continue building his career and legacy at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Moreover, Mr. Scott aims to additionally develop an indigenous cancer center while securing more grant money for minorities and women.
In 2018, Mr. Scott was the recipient of the Appreciation Award at Mentoring Day from the Western New York Employment Consortium and the Lighthouse of Partners Award from the Fruit Belt Coalition. He was also presented with the Global Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Award from the World HRD Congress and World Diversity and Inclusion Congress in 2017 and the Outstanding Diversity Leadership Award from Utopian Euphoria in 2015. Recognized for his service to the community, Mr. Scott accepted the Community Service Award from the Mary B. Talbert Civic and Cultural Club in 2015 and the Black Achievers in Industry Award from Black Achievers, Inc. in 2012
