Dr. Vontver was then invited to junior faculty at the University of Washington. He was board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and worked at the University of Washington Hospital and Harborview Hospital from 1969 to 1975. Dr. Vontver additionally held administrative roles in organizations including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics, (APGO) and one year as President of the Seattle Gynecological Society. Among his many great professional accomplishments, Dr. Vontver is proud of his contributions to the future of Obstetrics-Gynecology education and training, including WAMI (Washington Alaska Montana Idaho), which was the establishment of a reciprocal tuition program allowing residents of neighboring states who did not have a medical school to enroll at the School of Medicine at the University of Washington, and being a founding member of APGOs Scholars and Leaders program and a board examiner for ACOG.
