Mr. Glazer is a retired Michigan State Circuit Judge and member of the Michigan State Board of Ethics celebrating nearly six decades of legal practice. A graduate of Wayne State University, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in history, cum laude, in 1965, and continued his education at the University of Michigan Law School, where he was awarded a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1968. Mr. Glazer began his career in 1968 as a speechwriter and member of the legal staff for Michigan Attorney General Frank Kelly, where he would remain through 1975, whereupon he was appointed as the executive director of Governor William Milliken's Blue Ribbon Commission on Electric Power.
In 1976, Mr. Glazer entered private practice as the owner and principal attorney of the Law Office of Lawrence Glazer. At the time, he was one of the only attorneys in the region specializing in private practice administrative law, and found great success until 1983, when he transitioned into the role of special counsel for Michigan Governor James Blanchard, where he would spend the next five years. In 1987, Mr. Glazer was appointed as a state circuit judge for Michigan, through which he oversaw state trials, appellate court jurisdictions and state courts of claims until 2003.
In addition to presiding over Michigan circuit courts, Mr. Glazer is a former adjunct professor of antitrust and regulatory law at the T.M. Cooley Law School and the chairperson for the Law Students Civil Rights Research Council at the University of Michigan Law School. Likewise, he served as a member of the Michigan State Board of Ethics from 2012 until 2020, and is the designer of the hearing process on several state government agencies. Well regarded for his scholarly output, Mr. Glazer is the author of "Wounded Warrior: The Rise and Fall of Michigan Governor John Swainson" in 2010, and the recipient of the 2011 Independent Publisher Magazine Gold Medal in Biography. He continues to write for an e-magazine on Michigan public policy and politics, and enjoys time spent with his wife of 50 years, Patricia, his two children and two grandchildren.
