A successful pharmacist for nearly five decades, Ms. Monek retired in 2017 as the director of pharmacy at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (formerly Rahway Hospital) in Rahway, New Jersey. Prior to her 41-year tenure there, she was employed by the Freehold Area Hospital in Freehold, New Jersey, as a staff pharmacist from 1971 to 1972 before being promoted to director of pharmacy from 1972 to 1976. During 1985, Ms. Monek also enjoyed the opportunity to serve as a home health care intravenous therapy consultant, a position based in Rahway. Blessed to have enjoyed such a rewarding career, she would be remiss if she did not pay tribute to the incredible team of professionals that worked for her and supported her all those years.
To serve her local community, Ms. Monek twice served in local politics as a Republican committeewoman in Middlesex County, New Jersey, between 1972 and 1986 and again between 1992 and 2016. She also has served as a member of the Metuchen Board of Health in Metuchen, New Jersey, since 1987.
Ms. Monek studied at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, where she achieved a Bachelor of Science in 1970. She then attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she completed a Master of Business Administration in 1976. She is a registered pharmacist in the State of New Jersey.
Backed by several professional organizations, Ms. Monek is a member of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, the New Jersey Society of Hospital Pharmacists and the American Pharmaceutical Association. She is also a member of the New Jersey Hospital Association, where she was influential as a member of pharmacy group purchasing, chairperson of professional standards, vice chairperson and chairperson of the state pharmacy committee. Other memberships include the Metuchen Republican Club, the Cranford Dramatic Club and Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.
A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Monek has been featured in the first edition of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, the second edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and the 17th through 20th and the 23rd editions of Who's Who of American Women.
