With more than 40 years of experience in the legal field, Mr. Warshauer joined the law firm of Gainsburgh, Benjamin, David, Meunier & Warshauer L.L.C. in 1980, having previously worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana and a Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, from whom he received a Special Commendation. Advancing to become a partner with his firm in 1984, he focuses much of his practice within the areas of personal injury and wrongful death litigation, especially as it pertains to admiralty and maritime law, products liability and serious automobile collisions. In addition to handling class action lawsuits in major river pollution cases, Mr. Warshauer has garnered many favorable results on behalf of clients who had suffered profound injuries due to negligence or defective products.
Prior to the beginning of his career, Mr. Warshauer earned a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1972. Continuing his education, he subsequently enrolled at the Tulane University School of Law, graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1976. He has been admitted to practice law before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Additionally, Mr. Warshauer was certified in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
Mr. Warshauer has been presented with several awards throughout the course of his career, having most recently received the Jack Martzell Professionalism Award from the New Orleans Federal Bar Association in 2016. He has also been recognized among the Best Lawyers in America for nearly 20 years, and was honored as New Orleans' Injury Litigator of the Year by Best Lawyers in 2009 and 2016. Other accolades to Mr. Warshauer's credit include various listings among the top rated lawyers by Louisiana Super Lawyers and induction as a member of the New Orleans CityBusiness' 2012 Leadership in Law Class.
Mr. Warshauer is honored to be a Fellow with the American College of Trial Lawyers. To remain aware of developments in the field of law, he maintains his membership with several professional organizations, including the Maritime Law Association of the United States, in which he has Proctor Status, the Federal Bar Association, with which he was the Chairperson of the Admiralty Law Committee in 2019, and the New Orleans Bar Association, in which he served as Chairperson of the Product Liability Section in 2014 and 2015. He contributed as a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association's House of Delegates from 1997 - 2021 and has served on the LSBA Ethics Advisory Service Committee for over 15 years. Involved in many additional organizations, Mr. Warshauer was formerly active as a member of the Tulane Law School American Inn of Court, in which he was appointed as the President between 2006 and 2008.
Likewise, Mr. Warshauer has found success as the Chairperson of the Advisory Board of the South Central Regional Office of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), for which he is also a member of the National Commission and Civil Rights Committee. Previously, he flourished as the President of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Louisiana from 2005 to 2006 and as a member of the Board of Directors of Louisiana Appleseed between 2011 and 2019, with which he was also elected as the President in 2016 and 2017. Moreover, Mr. Warshauer participated on the Board of Governors for the Isidore Newman School from 1997 to 2014, and he served as the Board Chair from 2007 to 2010.
