FRANKLIN, OH, April 01, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Harriet E. Fealy Foley has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Drawing inspiration from her mother, a language teacher, and her father, an elementary school principal, Ms. Foley felt encouraged to pursue a similar line of work. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in education from the College of Mount St. Joseph in 1957, she began work as a fifth-grade teacher for Carlisle Public Schools. Four years later, she received a Master of Arts in library science from the University of Kentucky and began as Carlisle's school librarian and secondary school French teacher. Ms. Foley maintained her role as a librarian until her retirement in 1982.
A certified elementary education teacher in the State of Ohio, Ms. Foley affiliated herself with several organizations over the years, including the Ohio Educational Library Media Association, the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, the American Library Association, the Franklin Area Historical Society and the Ohio Association of School Libraries. Since retiring, she has devoted herself to tracing her family lineage, and as such, has aligned herself with the Warren County Genealogical Society, where she serves as the treasurer. Due to her dedication, Ms. Foley has traced her family back 25 generations to Charlemagne.
Long devoted to her local community, Ms. Foley serves as the secretary of Conover Health Center. In previous years, she worked in similar positions for the Carlisle Federal Credit Union, the Bicentennial Committee of Franklin, Ohio and the Otterbein-Lebanon Retirement Community. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Foley has contributed to a plethora of publications as both an editor and author, having written such works as "Franklin in the Great Miami Valley," "History of Saint Mary Parish," "Carlisle, the Jersey Settlement in Ohio 1800-1990," "150 year History of Saint Mary Church 1868-2018" and "Foley's from County Clare, Ireland" – a 300-page book she wrote with her husband and was able to gift to all of her nieces and nephews as wedding presents.
In light of her outstanding body of work, Ms. Foley was recognized on several occasions. In addition to being inducted into the Franklin High School Hall of Fame in 2003 and earning the Citizen of the Year Award in Franklin, Ohio, in 2007, she has been featured in such publications as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who of American Women.
