FARGO, ND, April 02, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Julie Garden-Robinson has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Originally intending on pursuing a career in biology or music, Dr. Garden-Robinson discovered a love of nutrition through her classes. Drawing upon her expertise in nutrition, food safety and food science, she currently excels as a professor and a food and nutrition specialist with North Dakota State University (NDSU), where she is also published in a weekly column via the NDSU Extension. Alongside her work with NDSU, Dr. Garden-Robinson channels her love of music into working as a music coordinator for the Gethsemane Episcopal Cathedral.
Throughout her decades-long career, Dr. Garden-Robinson has obtained considerable grant funds, mentored more than 150 students and published in excess of 100 extension and research articles. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, she has been affiliated with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Outside of her primary professional responsibilities, Dr. Garden-Robinson has contributed to the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences as a member of the national board.
A licensed registered dietitian, Dr. Garden-Robinson pursued an education at North Dakota State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in food and nutrition dietetics in 1986 and a Master of Science in food nutrition in 1989. She eventually graduated from the aforementioned university with a Doctor of Philosophy in cereal chemistry and food technology in 1994. Dedicated to continued education, Dr. Garden-Robinson became additionally certified as a food sanitation and HACCP instructor, a ServSafe instructor and a master gardener.
In light of her professional achievements, Dr. Garden-Robinson has been recognized many times, having accepted a First Place Marketing Award for "Eat Smart, Play Hard, Together," a Distinguished Service Award and the First Place Nutrition Education Award for "Spilling the Beans" from the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Science, which also honored her with two National Food Safety Education Awards and two National Communication Awards. More recently, she was also presented with a Distinguished Service Award from the local Chamber of Commerce, the National Public Engagement Award from the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities and the National First Place Family Health and Wellness Award. Looking toward the future, Dr. Garden-Robinson intends to expand upon her writing expertise.
