ASPEN, CO, April 06, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Doren Madey Pinnell, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who 2021. Dr. Pinnell was valedictorian of her high school class and then attended Duke University, where she was a James B Duke Scholar and earned three degrees: BS summa cum laude (Psychology), 1974; MEd (Education), 1975; PhD (Education and Law), 1979. Then, Dr. Pinnell embarked upon an exemplary career in the field of medicine, beginning with her work at the Rand Corporation and culminating in her current role as Vice President of the Aspen Brain Institute, which is committed to democratizing brain health by giving individuals access to the best minds and evidence-based information globally. Her career has been suffused with highlights, but she especially is proud to have helped the Aspen Brain Institute host virtual and in-person events, including the Aspen Speaker Series; the Brain Healthy Cooking Series; the Aspen Brain Lab; and others in collaboration with the New York Academy of Sciences, the Aspen Food and Wine Festival, and the World Health Organization (WHO) Healing Arts Initiative.
In addition to her work at the Institute, Dr. Pinnell is the only non-physician among SkinCeuticals' Elite Women in Dermatology. For almost two decades, Dr. Pinnell was the Medical/Scientific Liaison for SkinCeuticals, a company founded by her late husband, Sheldon R. Pinnell, MD. An internationally renowned dermatologist and collagen chemist, Dr. Sheldon Pinnell also served as Chief of Dermatology in the Department of Medicine at Duke University from 1982-1997. Under their leadership, the Division of Dermatology at Duke was elevated to its own Department in 2009.
At Duke, Dr. Doren Pinnell is a member of the Duke School of Medicine Board of Visitors, an honorary member of The Sheldon R. Pinnell Center for Investigative Dermatology at Duke University School of Medicine, and the Friends Board of the Nasher Museum of Art.
In conjunction with her work at the Aspen Brain Institute, Dr. Pinnell devotes herself to her community as a member of the National Council of the Aspen Museum of Art, the Anderson Ranch Arts Center and JazzAspenSnowmass. Due to her professional body of work, she has been recognized in Marquis Who's Who of Outstanding Executives and Professionals, and now Who's Who 2021. Within the next five years, Dr. Pinnell aims to publish a cookbook from the recipes she's collected over six decades and further explore her creative whims.
