MISSISSAUGA, ON, April 06, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Phoebe A. Wasfy has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Wasfy is noted as an educator and school administrator who has excelled as the principal of Philopateer Christian College since 2014. In this position, she continues to support and advocate for students and staff, create strong community relationships and encourage the aforementioned school's sound reputation. Ms. Wasfy attributes her success to centering faith in her life, dreaming big and believing in those dreams, and credits her parents, husband, and children with supporting her along the way.
As a child, Ms. Wasfy was inspired by her grandmother, who had been a teacher in Egypt during the 1950s and 1960s. Meeting some of her grandmother's former students and recognizing the life-changing impact that her classes had on them inspired her to pursue a career as an educator. In the years that followed, Ms. Wasfy earned a Bachelor of Arts in history at the University of Toronto at Mississauga in 2002 and a Bachelor of Education from D'Youville College in 2004.
Obtaining a higher education certificate from Harvard University, Ms. Wasfy began her career as a teacher at Philopateer Christian College from 2005 to 2011, at which point she advanced into educational leadership as the aforementioned school's vice principal until 2013. She subsequently graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Master of Education in educational leadership and administration in 2014. Contributing to the board of ACSI Eastern Canada since 2017, Ms. Wasfy has been additionally active with the Ontario College of Teachers and the Ontario Principal Association.
Under Ms. Wasfy's leadership, Philopateer Christian College was recognized as the Best Private School in Mississauga in 2019 and 2020. Likewise, she has been nominated for the Order of Ontario on two occasions. Furthermore, Ms. Wasfy was notably presented with the 2019 Canadian Life Transformation Academy Arab Woman Award for Academia in honor of her professional dedication. Ms. Wasfy has also received a nomination for the 2021 Women of Inspiration Awards and will be featured in a book about 100 Women of Inspiration in Canada.
