He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the York University Schulich School of Business, and earned a Bachelor of Laws in 2003 at Toronto's Osgoode Hall Law School, where he graduated on the Dean's Honour Roll in both programs. Mr. Charitsis briefly worked as an assistant Crown Attorney before turning his focus to his work with the Charitsis Law Firm, where he continues to practice criminal law in the Toronto and GTA courts. Born into an immigrant family, Mr. Charitsis observed firsthand how crucial it is for newcomers to have advocates as they begin the process of integrating into their local community. Strident in his advocacy on behalf of those without a voice, he believes strongly that all people deserve a second chance regardless of their mistakes. He is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades for his legal accomplishments, including a 2017 Pro Bono Lawyer Award from his Parish, and was rated one of Toronto's and GTA's top three DUI lawyers for 6 consecutive years. In the coming years, Mr. Charitsis hopes to expand his practice's reach to include smaller communities across the province, and place a larger focus on mentoring junior lawyers, one of his most cherished responsibilities.
In accounting for his standout success, Mr. Charitsis credits the work ethic instilled within him by his parents. He is a longtime volunteer for Sick Children's Hospital, Heart and Stroke Foundation, and the Caribbean Children's Foundation, and was appointed by the Attorney General as a member of the Ontario Justices of the Peace Appointments Advisory Committee.
