Mr. Fauquier retired in 2003 after a decade of excellence as a project engineer and senior estimator for Bechtel Inc., a well-known and respected engineering, procurement, construction and project management company in San Francisco. Leaving a lasting impression in the industry, which spanned more than four decades, he began working in construction in 1954 after departing from the military. Relocating to Missouri for college, he received an undergraduate degree in civil engineering and quickly found work as a project engineer. Mr. Fauquier's career took him to various parts of the country with such organizations as Ben C. Gerwick Inc. in California, Dondlinger and Sons Construction Corporation in Kansas, back to Ben C. Gerwick in California, followed by Bechtel Corporation in San Francisco, then to Riedel International Inc. in Oregon, and, later, with Morrison Knudson in Idaho as a general superintendent and project director. He also spent four years with Healy Tibbitts Builders Inc. as a senior project manager in San Francisco prior to returning to Bechtel for another 10 years.
A pioneer in his field, Mr. Fauquier often discovered new and innovative ways of excelling in his profession, with some of his most significant achievements taking place in the San Francisco Bay area. In accounting for his success, he credits the influence of several mentors who motivated and inspired him throughout his career, including Neil Turner, Ben C. Gerwick, Joe Lidghy, Mike Thiele and E. Glynn Jones. Likewise, well regarded for his service in the military, Mr. Fauquier received several awards for combat duty.
During his spare time, Mr. Fauquier crewed on various sizes and types of sailboats in races on the San Francisco Bay for twenty plus years. He was also an avid golfer in his younger days.
Stationed in Korea, Mr. Fauquier served in the U.S. Navy between 1950 and 1954. He subsequently studied at the University of Missouri, where he was bestowed with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering in 1961. Eminently qualified in his field, Mr. Fauquier is a registered professional engineer in the states of California, Missouri, Maine and New Hampshire.
A consummate professional, Mr. Fauquier has maintained his involvement with a number of professional organizations. To wit, he was a member of the American Association of Cost Engineers, the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, the Maine Society of Professional Engineers, the New Hampshire Society of Professional Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers. Likewise, Mr. Fauquier is a past director of the California Society of Professional Engineers.
