Mr. Lea celebrates more than four decades of excellence as an engineer, programmer and IT specialist working as an independent computer consultant. A lifelong learner with an IQ in the top 5%, he struggled to transition from a Private Parochial school to a public High school { NFA , New York } as a teenager, and developed an interest in amateur radio operation with the guidance of an adult mentor. Mr. Lea became the youngest person to get his amateur radio license, sparking an interest in electronics and engineering that would lead him to study at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Alaska, and Grantham Engineering College while serving as a sergeant in the United States Air Force during the late 1960s.
Mr. Lea completed a degree in Applied Electronics Technology Engineering in 1970 while living in Alaska, was gratified to learn programming and software engineering as with new computer technologies as they began to emerge. Over the next two decades, he would earn both an Associate of Science and a Bachelor of Science in computer science while living in Idaho , and he taught and wrote curriculum at the high school and college levels while living in Alaska and Idaho to become an electrician/electrical engineer for the petroleum industry in Alaska. Mr. Lea continued to learn, pursuing professional certificates in programming, website development and white hat hacking, and began working as an independent computer consultant and IT specialist in 1994, opening Jerry's Computer Consultant in Idaho.
Until 2009, Mr. Lea provided a broad range of IT services for clients, digitizing medical records, running CAT-5 cable installations for businesses, repairing and building computers, and creating websites for nonprofit organizations. He studied electrical engineering in 1980 but was unable to graduate do to a accident ( explosion on the--Steelhead oil drilling platform --owned by Marathon Oil in the Cook Inlet, Alaska) therefore postponing any graduation at the time, and has been the recipient of numerous academic awards ( Inducted into the " Who's Who of Cambridge " ) and citations for his work as a student and his contributions to the existing curriculum. He attributes his success to the independence and work ethic he learned from his parents, and is the proud parent of five children. In the coming years, Mr. Lea looks forward to returning to school and continuing his work.
Paying forward Mr. Gerard Lea has lived in several Senior/Veteran Community Centers and has offered his professional service's to those residents at these Communities if they had Computer problems or were interested in purchasing a Computer.
