Leading an impressive career as the president and chief scientist for Combustion Research and Flow Technology, Inc. in Pipersville, Pennsylvania, Dr. Dash retired from the organization in 2015 after more than two decades of excellent performance in his role. He had originally worked with the Science Applications International Corporation in Princeton, New Jersey, where he headed the propulsive sciences division as its vice president and manager for nearly 15 years. Additionally, Dr. Dash enjoyed three years as a consultant for Aeronautical Research Associates in Princeton from 1977 to 1980 and eight years as a research scientist for General Applied Sciences Laboratory in Westbury, New York, from 1969 to 1977.
As a result of his years of success in the field, Dr. Dash established his own business, Combustion Research and Flow Technology Inc., with offices in Pipersville, Huntsville, Alabama, and Oxford, Mississippi. Better known as CRAFT Tech, the aerospace research and development organization specializes in high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics simulation of complex flow and combustion problems. The company has had numerous R&D programs with NASA and DOD, as well as with several international organizations, and licenses its simulation software tools. Comprised of a team of approximately 50 professionals, their research efforts span multiple disciplines encompassing simulation methodologies for jet and missile exhaust plumes, hypersonic scramjet aero-propulsion, aircraft exhaust noise modeling and ETC gun and Naval Launchers. Dr. Dash retired in 2015, and even after his departure, CRAFT Tech has continued to thrive, particularly in the areas of missile and space defense.
As a seasoned researcher, Dr. Dash has been involved with the National Aerospace Plane Program and in the development of the U.S. standard plume flow field models for aircraft and missiles. He was also responsible for the formulation of jet noise reduction concepts and has conducted extensive research on scramjet technology for next generation missile systems. Widely published, Dr. Dash has disseminated his research findings through more than 250 refereed articles and papers in various professional aerospace journals and chapters in several books. Some of his papers were co-authored by his close associates at CRAFT Tech, as well as by Dr. Jack Seiner, former head of the noise and acoustics laboratory at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in Langley, Virginia, as well as a professor at the University of Mississippi.
Dr. Dash attended the Bronx High School of Science, a school that focuses on both science oriented studies. He subsequently received a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering at the City College of New York in 1964. Accepted to New York University thereafter, Dr. Dash acquired both a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in aeronautic and astronautics in 1966 and 1969, respectively, working under Dr. Antonio Ferri, the leading pioneer in Supersonic Aerodynamics and in concepts for supersonic combustion.
A respected member of numerous industry-related organizations, Dr. Dash is a fellow and former association chairperson of the aero-acoustics technology committee of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Likewise, he was named as the Aerospace Professional of the Year by the Institute in 2002. He has also been active on several North Atlantic Treaty Organization and Joint Army, Navy, NASA and Air Force committees. Well regarded in his field, Dr. Dash was the recipient of a Certificate of Recognition from NASA in 1975 and the U.S. Air Force in 1985.
