CHICAGO, IL, April 19, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert Berliner Jr. has been included in Marquis Who's Who in America. Mr. Berliner celebrates more than 45 years as an attorney, currently specializing in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, settlement counsel, and as an expert witness in real estate cases. After graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard, he joined the Navy, where he served as Supply Officer on a nuclear submarine. After completing his service, he returned to the Harvard Law School, from which he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence, magna cum laude, and was admitted to the Illinois bar, in 1974.
Mr. Berliner began his career as an associate at the firm of Levy and Erens in 1974, where he became a partner in 1978. In 1984, he started his solo practice and in 1988 became a founding partner of Berliner and Krasnow. In 1989, he joined Jupiter Realty Corporation, a national real estate investment and development company, and Jupiter Industries, Inc., a privately owned conglomerate, where he served as a senior officer and general counsel until 1997. He then left Jupiter and returned to private practice and also became involved in a number of real estate development projects as a principal. Since 2009, he has principally been acting as a neutral mediator and arbitrator and as an expert witness in cases involving real estate and legal malpractice. He is also a Consulting Editor and Editorial Board member of The Principal Post, and has served as a Board member and Secretary of Vexidus Corporation.
Mr. Berliner has served as a lecturer at DePaul University and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and as an adjunct professor at the Stuart Graduate School of Business, Illinois Institute of Technology, where he taught real estate investment. Mr. Berliner is the founder and leader of a program that provides pro bono mediation services to small claims litigants in Will County, Illinois. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Attorney-Mediators and a co-founder and President of its Illinois chapter. He has been named an Illinois Super Lawyer each year since 2013 and was awarded the 2018-2019 John C. McAndrews Award for Pro Bono Service by the Illinois State Bar Association.
Long dedicated to civic engagement, Mr. Berliner has been a member of the board of the Sinai Health System and Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center, the Council for Jewish Elderly, the Institute for Clinical Social Work in Chicago and the Francis Parker School. He has served in leadership positions with the Jewish Community Centers of Chicago and the Florence G. Heller Jewish Community Center, of which he served as President. He also served as Vice Chairman of the city's Special Service Area number 23, a mayoral appointment.
