DETROIT, MI, April 20, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ameena R. Sheikh has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. In her formative years, Ms. Sheikh pursued a career as a professional skater, having to often sign contracts for performances and competitions without always understanding the contract itself. She subsequently began coaching other skaters and discovered that she needed to learn more about the business and legal side of the industry. Soon thereafter, Ms. Sheikh earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication and English from Oakland University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Wayne State University Law School.
Upon her graduation from law school, Ms. Sheikh was immediately offered a position at Bodman Law Firm, a premier defense firm in the Detroit area. After a year, she relocated to California to work in corporate defense litigation as well as family law. During this time, she eventually decided to establish a law firm with a close friend. Returning to Detroit in 2019, Ms. Sheikh has since excelled as a shareholder and equity partner of The Rippy + Sheikh Law Firm PC, dba Ladies in Law.
In her current firm, Ms. Sheikh focuses on estate planning, family law, probate law and small businesses. Having won several court appeals and appellate briefs, she has been incredibly proud to have written an appellate brief to the Michigan Supreme Court, which was granted. Ms. Sheikh also cites the founding of Ladies in Law as a professional highlight, as the firm has been notably recognized for their diversity and inclusion in a number of publications throughout Detroit.
For her exceptional efforts in her career, Ms. Sheikh was presented with the Top 40 Under 40 Award by the National Trial Lawyers. In addition to this honor, the firm was profiled on "Close Up Radio", a talk show, as well as by the producer of "Judge Judy" and "The People's Court." Ultimately, Ms. Sheikh hopes to help young women venturing into male-dominated industries in the years to come.
In her community, Ms. Sheikh has been additionally active with local figure skating organizations and Lakeshore Legal Aid. She maintains her professional affiliation with the Women's Law Caucus and the Oakland University Alumni Association. Looking toward the future, she aims to continue building upon her practice.
