Xiao Aurora Wang, PhD, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    DAVIE, FL, April 22, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Xiao Aurora Wang, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Wang celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Having garnered a laudable reputation as a successful language educator and compositionist, Dr. Wang is a longtime senior professor of English at Broward College in Fort Lauderdale. She has earned distinction as an adjunct professor of English at Nova Southeastern University since 2015. Likewise. Dr. Wang's previous commitments have included a faculty appointment teaching English at Arizona State University and Ball State University. While active at Ball State, she also lent her expertise as an editor for the IWP Newsletter and as a supervisor of computer-assisted composition classes.

Crediting her success on her ability to remain consistent in the classroom, Dr. Wang notes the significance of her own education, which was excellent. Throughout the course of her career, she had the good fortune to teach hundreds of students, and is most proud to have contributed to their future vocational journeys. Moreover, Dr. Wang had the opportunity to spend much of her time conducting research into interlanguage characteristics in the texts by Chinese American freshman composition students from the University of California at Los Angeles. She has also published articles about Ebonics in Composition classes" as well as "Double Entry in Composition II" in Eric Clearinghouse, an on-line professional journal site.

Leveraging her expertise, Dr. Wang has written several books. Among them, she authored "Writing About Literature: English Composition," which is now in its second edition, "English Composition," now in its sixth edition, "English Composition for Multilingual Speaker," "Double-Entry Notebook and Writing about Literature" and "Teaching Children to Write K-8." Well regarded for her scholarly output, Dr. Want has also presented in her field at numerous professional conferences.

As a part of her educational commitments, Dr. Wang has been involved as the founder and advisor for the Broward College Asian American Club and a scorer for the Florida Teacher Certification Examination at the University of Southern Florida. Moreover, she has donated prolifically on behalf of Ball State University, where she established the Zhi Yuan Wang Scholarship, in loving memory of her beloved father.

About Sir Wang Zhi Yuan
Sir Wang Zhi Yuan was called the proudest and the most selfless father by the donor of this scholarship, Dr. Xiao Wang. Sir. Wang Zhi Yuan was born in 1933 in Lin Xia, Gan Su, China. He had worked in the bank while raising three of his daughters with his wife. When Sir. Wang Zhi Yuan was 57 years old, his favorite daughter, Dr. Xiao Wang left him and came to the United States for her graduate studies in English after earning a B.A. from Northwest Normal University in China. Sir. Wang's daughter, Dr. Xiao Wang earned her M.A. in English from St. Cloud State, MN and her Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition from Ball State University, IN. During Dr. Xiao Wang's studies away from her family in China, her father, Sir. Wang Zhi Yuan wrote and mailed letters to her religiously, giving her support emotionally and spiritually. It was her father, Sir. Wang Zhi Yuan's support and love that allowed Dr. Xiao Wang to continue working diligently towards her M.A. and Ph.D. and landed on a tenure-track position as a professor of English at Broward College in FL. Sir. Wang Zhi Yuan and his wife Yulan Huang came to stay with Dr. Xiao Wang in Florida three times. Unfortunately, during his third trip to Florida, Sir. Wang Zhi Yuan lost his battle to esophagus cancer in June of 2015 at the age of 82 in Hollywood, FL. In loving memory of her father's selfless and unconditional love and support for her, Dr. Xiao Wang had created this scholarship in her father's name to help students who work towards their academic degrees with perseverance and who in turn will give back to our society.

Dr. Wang previously mentored the graduate education program in recent years at Nova Southeastern University, was the program chairperson for the Two-Year College English Association-Southeast Conference in Fort Lauderdale and was a learning communities' coordinator at Broward College.

Dr. Wang first sought an education at Northwest Teachers University in China, from which she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1983. She later obtained a Master of Arts at Saint Cloud State University in Minnesota in 1992 and a Doctor of Philosophy in rhetoric and composition at Ball State University in Indiana in 1998.

As a commitment to her field, Dr. Wang has been active with several industry-related organizations. To wit, she is affiliated with the National Council of Teachers of English, the Writing Program Administration, the Modern Language Association and the Two-Year College Association of English. Dr. Wang served as the Broward Chapter President for Florida Association of Colleges, where she formerly spent a year on the organization's executive board during 2013 and as the vice president of regions and chapters during 2014.

Dr. Wang's achievements have included earning the Lawrence B. and Clara S. Coard Memorial Scholarship from Saint Cloud State University in 1991 and being named as the Most Recognizable Graduate Student by Ball State University in 1997. She was also recognized by Broward College with an Excellence in Teaching Award in 2000 and an Adviser of the Year Award from the College's Asian-American Club in 2008. Furthermore, Dr. Wang was bestowed with the Vivian Dillinger Outstanding Faculty Award from the Association of Florida Colleges in 2013.
