Driven to help clients analyze and manage their investments, Dr. Friedman earned a BBA in finance from Wake Forest University in 1966. Following this accomplishment, he received an MBA in accounting from Pace University in 1970 and a Ph.D. from Georgia State University in 1975. During the earliest stages of his career, he gained valuable expertise as a certified public accountant in the audit and tax departments of Coopers & Lybrand. Subsequently, Dr. Friedman worked as an instructor and assistant professor with Georgia State University, a tenured associate professor with the University of Texas at Arlington, and Julio S. Laguarta Professor with Texas A&M University. He served as the senior manager of the Roulac Group of Deloitte & Touche, and then began his own consulting firm focused on commercial real estate litigation and expert witness testimony.
Drawing on his considerable expertise, Dr. Friedman serves as the chief executive officer of Jack Friedman & Associates – a real estate litigation consulting firm that addresses real estate appraisal, finance, investments, market research and more. Throughout the course of his career, he has represented a wide range of clients, such as Citicorp, the City of Dallas, BP-Amoco, the Internal Revenue Service, the University of Hawaii, JCPenney, and the U.S. Department of Justice, to name only a few. In light of his outstanding breadth of knowledge, he has also authored 16 educational books, 10 business-related books and various other publications, including "The Encyclopedia of Investments," "Barron's Dictionary of Business and Economic Terms," "Barron's Dictionary of Real Estate Terms" and "How to Prepare for Real Estate Licensing Examinations: Broker, Salesperson, Appraiser."
In order to remain a leader of changes in the field, Dr. Friedman is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Society of Appraisers, the Appraisal Institute, and the Counselors of Real Estate. Outside of his work, he has also contributed to his community through Temple Har Zion. He served in the US Army Reserves and National Guard. Though his career has been suffused with highlights, there are several that stand out. In addition to being accredited in business value through the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, he pioneered modern cash equivalence concepts and creative financing, and computerized real estate investment analysis using both main frame and personal computers. He has taught courses worldwide, and has earned awards for economic forecasting and teaching excellence. Looking toward the future, Dr. Friedman intends to retire.
