With more than four decades of professional experience to her credit, Ms. Jones, now retired, excelled as the site Coordinator of Staff Development for Educators Inc. from 2013 to 2016. Between 1971 and 2012, she had worked as an educator for the Chicago Public Schools. Civically engaged as well, Ms. Jones contributed her time to AARP – Volunteer program, Mollison Elementary School-Volunteer program, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Inc.- Beta Psi Chapter, National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc.–Mu Chapter and the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.–Lincoln Park Chicago Chapter.
The first in her family to attend college, Ms. Jones began her education at North Park University in Chicago, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She later earned a Master of Arts in educational leadership from Northeastern Illinois University in 1997. Additionally, Ms. Jones completed all coursework and comprehensive testing towards her Doctoral Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Illinois State University and studied aboard at Lancaster University researching black and brown male diverse learners, whose parents immigrated from Africa, Brazil, and Bagdad to the UK.
Outside of her primary responsibilities, Ms. Jones remained aware of the changes and advancements in education through relevant organizations. A member of the National Teachers Association, she was also involved with the United Negro College Fund, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the International Reading Association. The coordinator of the March of Dimes, Ms. Jones currently serves on the women's board for the Bronzeville Children's Museum.
Throughout her impressive career, Ms. Jones accepted numerous teaching awards. Looking toward the future, she intends to continue supporting her family, ensuring they are able to be successful in whatever they choose. Enjoying the fruits of her retirement, Ms. Jones often indulges in such avocations as travelling abroad.
