Denise Alane Quan Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    LOS ANGELES, CA, April 29, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Denise Alane Quan with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Quan celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Having taught and practiced music for nearly three decades, Ms. Quan has been affiliated with the Los Angeles Public School District's Fairfax High School since 2019 as a multiple-subject teacher. Her tenure in education also included teaching appointments throughout the district, including at John Muir Middle School. Ms. Quan has taught a variety of courses, from engineering, mathematics, geometry and algebra, to art, history and Spanish.

Additional professional commitments to Ms. Quan's credit include service as the orchestra, band and choir director at Marina de Rey Middle School, as the music director for Hillcrest Center for Enriched Studies Music Magnet, and as the music department chairperson and band director for Virgil Middle School. In addition to her time in the classroom, she is a soprano for the California Philharmonic Chorale, the Brentwood-Palisades Chorales and the Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera. Likewise active in numerous civic endeavors, Ms. Quan served on the board of directors for the Saturday Conservatory of Music between 2001 and 2011. She was also instrumental on the advisory board for the Los Angeles City College's department of music from 1998 to 2008.

Outside of her work as a teacher, Ms. Quan garnered a reputation as the director of advanced orchestra for the Saturday Conservatory of Music from 2006 to 2010. She also gained experience at the academic level as an assistant lecturer at the University of Southern California between 1994 and 1996 and as a piano instructor on the music faculty of Los Angeles City College from 2001 until 2002. Reflecting on her career, Ms. Quan is grateful for all the memories she experienced with her students throughout the course of her career. Among them, she had the great pleasure to perform Mozart with several students before the Consulate General of Austria, which was an unforgettable and proud moment.

A prolific author, Ms. Quan notably wrote "A Study of Fijian Meke" in 2009. In 2001, she also authored "A Documentary History of the Saturday Conservatory of Music at California State University, Los Angeles, 1967-1981." To better align herself in the industry, Ms. Quan has been actively engaged as a member of several professional organizations, including the National Education Association, the International Society of Bassists, the National Association of Music Education, the National Flute Association and the Organization of American Kodály Educators.

Highly educated, Ms. Quan initially received an Associate of Art in music, summa cum laude, at Los Angeles City College in 1991. Subsequently in 1994 she simultaneously earned a Bachelor of Art in humanities, summa cum laude, and a Bachelor of Music in music education, summa cum laude, at the University of Southern California. That was followed by a Master of Music in music education in 2001 at the same institution. Furthermore, she completed additional coursework at the Colburn School between 2012 and 2019. Ms. Quan is a credentialed teacher in the state of California and completed the requirements for the Sequential Music Training Program through the Organization of American Kodály Educators.

Ms. Quan was named to the Dean's List at both Los Angeles City College and the University of Southern California. St the former she was the valedictorian and earned honors in music performance and the Music Department Service Award. At the latter she earned the Phi Kappa Lambda Award for being the most outstanding undergraduate in the school of music, the Chamber Singers Ensemble Award and the music education department's Most Outstanding Student Award as an undergraduate and then again as a graduate student working on her teaching credential. Additionally, she was nominated for the Los Angeles County Bravo Award. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Quan has been cited in 15 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who of American Women.
