After studying pre-veterinary medicine, Ms. Harnden decided to embark on a different life path and applied to an x-ray program. Upon graduating, she enrolled in ultrasound school, became a registered vascular technologist and eventually earned an Associate of Arts in science technology from Empire State College. She was recently accepted into Utica College to finish her Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Harnden gained valuable expertise in the field as a vascular technologist before obtaining a role with Adirondack Health, where she has served for the last decade and a half.
In her role with Adirondack Health, Ms. Harnden runs the vascular lab and works side by side with the vascular surgeon. Additionally, she oversees incoming referrals for patients, clinically assesses patients, and performs ultrasounds and other specialized tests. In a career that has been suffused with highlights, Ms. Harnden is most proud to have been one of the only technologists that works with a vascular surgeon in Northern New York.
Driven to remain aware of ongoing changes in the field, Ms. Harnden aligns herself with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the Society of Vascular Technology. In accounting for her success, she credits the wonderful doctors she has worked with. Looking toward the future, Ms. Harnden intends to continue in the same role and became a mentor to up-and-comers within the industry.
