GREENSBURG, PA, May 04, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James J. Sherin has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Upon graduating from Geneva College with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics, Mr. Sherin began teaching mathematics and drafting through the Rochester Area School District. Two years later, he joined the United States Steel Corporation, where he served as a journeyman programmer working with business, scientific and software development teams. During the late-1960s and the 1970s, Mr. Sherin worked for Control Data Corporation as an onsite analyst and analyst-in-charge responsible for problem tracking and resolution using onsite resources.
Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Sherin gained valuable expertise in the field with such companies as Cray Research, Westinghouse Electric Corporation and Thrift Drug Inc. Between 1997 and his retirement in 2003, he parlayed his considerable knowledge in systems analysis and programming to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Health Systems, where he served as a UNIX systems administrator on more than 40 SUN and IBM UNIX platforms of all sizes. Likewise, Mr. Sherin has also pursued continued education through Duquesne University.
Alongside his work in the field, Mr. Sherin contributes to others as a volunteer scoutmaster through the Boy Scouts of America and by running raffles through his church. In light of his many accomplishments, he has been honored with the Wood Badge and the Silver Beaver Award through the Boy Scouts. Looking toward the future, Mr. Sherin aims to continue teaching.
