Mr. Cross's career as a contract coordinator stemmed from his background as a medical specialist in the U.S. Army Special Forces during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Assisting hospitals and trains which were moving southeast across the U.S., he first resided in Okinawa, Japan, and later in Vietnam while performing mobile training. From 1966 until 1968, Mr. Cross was notably assigned as a hospital administration specialist to the Binh Thuan Province Hospital in Vietnam. Resigning from the military shortly thereafter, he entered the private sector with Pacific Architects and Engineers Inc. in Los Angeles and subsequently worked as a project manager, contracts administrator and manager of management services in Japan. Mr. Cross also held similar roles with the Bechtel Group Inc., in California and Egypt, Parsons-Brickerhoff in California, Arabian Betchel Company Ltd. in the Middle East, and, among other organizations, the Toa Corporation in Guam until his retirement in 2009.
Throughout the course of his renowned career, Mr. Cross contributed for five years in a consultancy role for the BPC subsidiary, Pacific Engineer and Constructors Ltd., between 1985 and 1990. He was responsible for implementing human resource management development systems in Perusahaan Umum Listrick Nega, which is an Indonesian government-owned corporation in Indonesia. A community leader for many years, Mr. Cross has been affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America where he became an Eagle Scout and the Masonic Order of DeMolay.
A graduate of California Western University, Mr. Cross received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration in 1981 and 1982, respectively. He holds level one certification in homeland security for emergency management, and is likewise certified in public works and engineering. Mr. Cross has been actively engaged with various professional organizations pertinent to his field, including the American Arbitration Association, the American Management Association, the International Personnel Management Association, the Construction Management Association of America and the National Contract Management Association. He is also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon where he was named Pledge of the Year for 1960.
In 1992, Mr. Cross received a Golden Spike Award for Outstanding Performance by the Los Angeles Metro Rail System. He also received several significant accolades for his service in the military, including a Combat Infantryman's Badge, Basic Parachutist's Badge, Combat Medic's Badge, Expert Rifleman's Badge and Vietnam Service Medal. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been featured in approximately 25 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the World.
