Although he originally wanted to become a pilot, Dr. Cripe's vision changed and so set him on a different path. Fascinated by science and the natural world, he worked at a camp in Texas titled Camp John Marc for kids with medical issues, which encouraged him to pursue a career in the field. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in political science and government from Texas A&M University in 2002, he received a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2006.
Upon graduating from medical school, Dr. Cripe completed a pediatric residency at Children's Medical Center in 2009 and a fellowship in pediatric critical care through Children's Hospital Colorado in 2012. Over the years, he has gained valuable expertise in the area of medical education, serving as an associate clinical professor for Tulane University and as a senior lecturer with The University of Queensland. While parlaying his considerable knowledge to others, he also worked as a pediatric intensivist for Ochsner Health System.
Drawing upon years of experience in clinical research, molecular biology, public health and medicine, Dr. Cripe excels today as an assistant professor at the University of Colorado's Anschutz Medical Campus and as medical director of pediatric critical care medicine for Children's Hospital Colorado, where he works alongside six other physicians. Though he has experienced many a career highlight with more on the horizon, he is most proud of his work with the Children's Hospital Colorado.
To remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Cripe aligns himself with the Society of Critical Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics, through which he is a fellow. In conjunction with his work, he has given back to his community as a medical liaison for Roundup River Ranch in Colorado. For his outstanding work in the field, he was named a Rising Star through the Colorado Business Journal in 2021. Within the next five years, Dr. Cripe intends to build upon his leadership capabilities and mentor up-and-comers in the field.
