An incredibly talented artist whose work has been exhibited throughout the country and abroad, Ms. Elias has excelled in the field for decades. Widely recognized for her paintings, photographs and sculptures, she is also a prominent figure in unique installation art and collage art. Greatly inspired by the lush landscape that she calls home in Miami, Ms. Elias expresses her many lifetime experiences through her artwork.
Ms. Elias' pieces have been displayed in one-person shows and group exhibitions in art galleries and museums all over the U.S. and abroad in such locations as the Bass Museum in Miami, the New York Public Library in Manhattan, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs at the Louvre Museum in Paris, and the Kinsan Contemporary Museum in Korea. Her work has also been represented in a multitude of public collections and more than 50 private collections. Recently, Ms. Elias was included in the Lowe Museum at the University of Miami for five months, throughout which 30 of her interactive iPad paintings were showcased. She was also invited to participate in an international exhibition in Lake Como, Italy in a show about technology and art where she was the only woman and the only American.
Ms. Elias studied at the Art Institute of Chicago from 1963 to 1973 before earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio, in 1973. Likewise, she has held a Master of Arts from California State University since 1975. Throughout the course of her subsequent career, Ms. Elias has advocated on behalf of funding for the arts in film, television and fine arts. She has also been greatly influenced through memberships with several significant museums. These include the Bass Museum, the Frost Museum, PAMM, The Jewish Museum of Florida, The Museum of Contemporary Art in Miami as well as The Whitney Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and MOMA in New York.
As a testament to her success and longevity, Ms. Elias won several awards, including a Women of Vision Award from the Weitzman Institute, a Bronze Award from the Art of California magazine and a Metro Art International Medal in New York City. Her artwork has also been reviewed by numerous newspapers and magazines over the years. Additionally, Ms. Elias was recognized as the Woman of the Year for her demonstration of civic pride and community service by the Tarzana Chamber of Commerce in Tarzana, California and received certificates of appreciation from both the Mayor of the city of Los Angeles as well as by Bobbi Fiedler, Member of U.S Congress for outstanding efforts and accomplishments of great benefit to the city and community.
