Dr. Allard is noted as a professor emerita of psychology with Worcester State University in Massachusetts, having taught for more than 30 years until retiring in 2005. She was additionally active with the aforementioned university as the chairperson of the department of social and behavioral science and psychology from 1992 to 2005. Prior to her commitments in Massachusetts, Dr. Allard further worked as a project director and research scientist at American University in Washington, D.C., a research associate at the Computer Institute for Social Science Research at Michigan State University in East Lansing and a corporate senior scientist at Operations Research Inc., now known as Leasco Systems, in Bethesda, Maryland.
As an expert in operations research and program assessment and evaluation, Dr. Allard flourished for many decades as a research consultant, beginning in 1970. Having consulted on behalf of Yankelovich Company in New York, Dr. Allard also flourished as a consultant and senior examiner for International Baccalaureate Organization, a non-profit headquartered in Switzerland that offers international education programs to students from all over the world.
Furthermore, Dr. Allard found success as an international lecturer for Framingham State University in Framingham, Massachusetts and an adjunct professor at Assumption College in Worcester. She has notably taught research courses in 14 different countries throughout her academic career. Likewise, she co-authored all six editions (1995, 2002, 2005, 2009, 2012, 2015) of the textbook "Understanding and Managing Diversity: Readings, Cases, and Exercises" with Carol Harvey. Additionally, Dr. Allard has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and participated in multiple international presentations based on her research. In addition, she co-authored with Pamela McKay "Algeria" and "Egypt," two chapters which appeared in the World Education Encyclopedia: A Survey of Educational Systems Worldwide in 2002.
Aligned with several civic and non-profit organizations throughout her career, Dr. Allard has been a member of the Worcester County Horticultural Society and the American Psychological Association. She also served on the board directors of Girls, Inc. in Worcester and as a past president and former member of the board of trustees of Worcester State Hospital. Dr. Allard was also distinguished as a seven time National Science Foundation fellow at Michigan State University.
Dr. Allard notably pursued an education at Michigan State University, from which she earned an undergraduate degree with high honors as well as a master's degree and a Doctor of Philosophy. She has been recognized by multiple national professional organizations and honor societies.
