Having resolved to earn distinction as a surgeon, he completed an internship and residency at the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout the course of his career, he has since held professorships at the University of Washington, Cornell University and the University of South Alabama. Presently, Dr. Curreri is a health facility administrator and the chairperson of Strategem of Alabama Inc.
For his efforts over the span of his professional journey, Dr. Curreri has received many accolades. To wit, he was presented with the Research Career Development Award from the National Institutes of Health and the Curtis P. Artz Award from the American Trauma Society. Moreover, for his military service, he received a Meritorious Service Medal. To remain aware of developments in the field, Dr. Curreri maintains his affiliation with the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (Past President), the Halstead Society (Past President), the American College of Surgeons, the American Burn Association (Past President), the Society of University Surgeons (Past President) and the Association for Academic Surgery.
