Dr. Sophia Edwards-Bennett's (affectionately called Dr. EB) unequivocally ascribes her passion to medicine, specifically direct patient care. Her wealth of medical education and oncological expertise was garnered from Weill Medical College of Cornell University where she obtained her Doctor of Medicine (Medical Degreel/MD), Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) where she completed her Residency Specialty Training in Radiation Oncology, and Harvard Medical School where, recommended by her MSKCC mentor Dr. Yahalom, she completed the intense accelerated post-graduate program in Cancer Research and Therapeutics.
With pensive reflections, after her first correspondence from the Harvard Alumni Association, she vividly recollects and credits the strong educational background and foundation laid in her native country, Jamaica, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry; leading to her selection to pursue and subsequently obtain her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Bio-Organic Chemistry at Georgia State University.
Fortuitously, for her PhD research, Dr. EB synthesized anti/cancer agents, which reignited her interest and pursuit of medicine, and specifically, Oncology.
As a respected voice in her field, Dr. Edwards-Bennett has served as the principal investigator on multiple clinical studies, has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles, as has served as a reviewer for seminal journals as well.
She has also been an invited and guest speaker at multiple national and international medical conferences. However, throughout her career, Dr. Edwards-Bennett has been most proud to consistently make an indelible difference in the lives of her patients.
For her efforts over the years, she has received multiple awards including: the Tampa Doctors Award for two consecutive years, the Vitals Patient Choice Award, the Leading Physicians of the World Award, the Strathmore Lifetime Achievement Award and the Oxford Who's Who ELITE Award in Medicine. Since 2015, Dr. Edwards-Bennett has been recognized as a Top Doctor in Radiation Oncology in Florida and South Carolina.
Noteworthy, Dr. EB was the Lead Radiation Oncologist in developing, and establishing new (2) Radiation Centers equipped with State of the Art Radiation Technology in her native country, Jamaica.
She has also lead in the US as well, as the Radiation Oncologist at the helm of the launching of new Radiation Oncology Department, tasked with educating the team, establishing and building the center's regional presence and reputation, and improving cancer care.
Dr. Edwards-Bennett established, and is the CEO of, MyDoctorEB LLC. She has practiced expansively nationally and internationally, holding unrestricted licenses in multiple states including New York, Florida, Indiana, South Carolina, Wisconsin and South Dakota.
In addition to her extensive oncological research and education, Dr. Edwards-Bennett's vision is to revolutionize cancer care, specifically by directly addressing the psychological toxicities that plague cancer patients at the inception of their diagnosis, treatment and beyond, by institution a 7-pronged approach that she has coined, The Big-C Re-Attitudes.

Outside of her primary professional endeavors, Dr. Edwards-Bennett has served on the South Carolina Cancer Control Advisory Committee, the Breast Cancer Committee, the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) and the Lung Cancer Committee. She maintains her professional affiliation with the American Board of Radiology, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, the Radiological Society of North America, the Association of Minority Radiation Oncology, the American Association for Women Radiologists and the Caribbean Physicians Network of CTCA.
Dr. Edwards-Bennett has attributed her professional success to divine grace and the ordained purpose for her life, and the values such as work ethic and integrity instilled in her, by her mother Satarie Edwards.
In fact, Dr. EB and her brothers Alexie Edwards and Dwight Edwards founded multiple philanthropic endeavors, including The Satarie Edwards Lupus Fund (SELF) in honor of their mom, for children with Lupus, expanded to children actively living with malignancies (CALM), and support for a select group of minority students interested in pursuing medicine.
She has also been blessed with a loving and supportive family; and enjoys family time with her immediate family her husband and her two beautiful daughters.
