In her work, she utilizes her expertise in clinical training and patient caregiving, as well as public education to manage the Ohio territory. Likewise, Ms. Smith provides product specific information related to the REMS in compliance with the FDA, reactively responds to medical information requests related to REMS, offers clinical education to HCPs with educational gaps related to safe and appropriate use of Janssen Neuroscience products and works with the Coalition Teams to ensure all HCPs within the territory are compliant.
Prior to obtaining her current role, Ms. Smith gained valuable expertise in the field as a program manager for the Cleveland Clinic, where she also served as an enterprise stroke systems manager. During an earlier stage in her career, she worked as a neuroscience outcomes manager and floor nurse for OhioHealth. In light of her considerable knowledge, Ms. Smith contributed to a plethora of presentations and publications, including "Neuroimaging of Acute Stroke," which was presented at the American Stroke Association's Stroke Coordinator Bootcamp, "Cardiovascular Disease and Depression," "Emergency Management of the Hemorrhage Patient" and "Yearly Bootcamp Training for Stroke Coordinators" at the International Stroke Conference.
As an expert in her field, Ms. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in sports medicine and psychology from the University of Pittsburg, a Master of Arts in exercise psychology from Ohio State University and a Master of Business Administration in healthcare administration from Northcentral University. Additionally, she became a registered nurse through Columbus State Community College. Moreover, Ms. Smith is certified as a stroke nurse through the American Association of Neurological Nurses, and a registered exercise specialist, and registered clinical exercise physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine.
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Ms. Smith aligns herself with the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Heart and Stroke Associations, the American Association of Neurological Nurses and the International Disciplinary Stroke Council, where she served as the vice chairperson between 2018 and 2020. In conjunction with her work, she contributes to those less fortunate through the Cleveland Food Bank. For her professional excellence, she received a Distinguished Achievement Award through the American Stroke Association in 2015. Though her career has been suffused with highlights, she is especially proud of her work at the American Stroke Association.
