KNIGHTSTOWN, IN, May 19, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Shirley Richardson with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Richardson celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Having accrued more than three and a half decades of expertise in the field of communications and public relations, Ms. Richardson attributes much of her success in the field to the trust and respect she earned for her values and integrity. Born and raised on a small farm in southern Indiana, she graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1949. She holds several certifications in writing, management and public relations.
Throughout the beginning of her career, Ms. Richardson worked locally for Mayhill Publications as a secretary and proofreader. New to the industry, her enthusiasm to do and learn more led to various roles in leadership, including as editor of Eastern Indiana Farmer (now Farmworld) and personnel manager between 1967 and 1987. The field of agriculture did have women as editors of publications, but Ms. Richardson proudly says she was accepted by the men in agriculture because she asked questions and "let them do the talking".
In 1987, the president of Indiana Farm Bureau Inc. offered her a position of starting a newspaper for the statewide organization. Her reputation and hard work with Indiana led to Ms. Richardson being named as director of the Indiana Farm Bureau Inc. Information and Public relations Department. In this position she also had the opportunity to work with Farm Bureau organization across the USA. She worked tirelessly in her field until her retirement in 1994.
Fortunate to be mentored by several great professionals, Ms. Richardson is proud to be recognized by her peers, despite knowing little about her field in 1967. After retirement, Ms. Richardson continued to work part time for former employers.
Among other obligations in her journey, she had children at home to raise and is grateful for her many accomplishments. Now fully retired, she keeps busy and has finished a cookbook for her family with favorite recipes and a little history.
