DECATUR, GA, May 20, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Jacqueline F. Bunn with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Bunn celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
For the past five years, Ms. Bunn has utilized her talents and tenure to serve as a board member on behalf of the Georgia State Boards of Pardons and Paroles in Atlanta. The Parole Board's mission, in part, is "to serve the citizens of Georgia by exercising the constitutional authority of executive clemency through informed decision-making." It also strives to ensure public safety, protect victims' rights, and provide offenders with opportunities for positive change. Ms. Bunn spent the early stages of her career as an associate attorney for several prominent law firms in Atlanta and New Jersey. She transitioned into the role of assistant attorney general for the Georgia Department of Law, Office of the Attorney General, in Atlanta in 1997.
After nearly a decade in that position, Ms. Bunn became the Deputy Director of Legal Services for the Georgia Department of Public Safety from 2006 to 2013. Thereafter, she was appointed by the Governor to serve as the Executive Director of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council until 2015. During the course of her career, she also has served as a member of the Promoting Inclusion in the Profession committee for the State Bar of Georgia and the Georgia Bar Journal. In 2019, she received the State Bar's highest award, the Thomas R. Burnside Jr. Excellence in Bar Leadership award. Likewise, Ms. Bunn was a member of the Henry Toll Fellowship Program for the Class of 2016.
She earned a Bachelor of Journalism, with general honors, from the University of Georgia in 1984. Drawing inspiration from her own family, she attended law school, graduating with a Juris Doctor in 1987 from the University of Georgia School of Law. While pursuing her law degree, she was active in moot court and became affiliated with several professional organizations. Ms. Bunn has since been admitted to practice by the Georgia and New Jersey Bar Associations. She is licensed to practice in all state and appellate courts in Georgia and New Jersey as well as all of the U.S. District Courts in Georgia, the U.S. District Court of New Jersey, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Supporting her career, Ms. Bunn has been involved as a member of the Association of Women Executives in Corrections, the National Bar Association, and the State Bar of Georgia. She is a past president of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, a bar organization centered on nurturing and supporting African American female attorneys.
Attributing her success to her propensity for following her dreams, Ms. Bunn has always been very persistent with regard to pursuing excellence. In 2013, under her leadership, the State Bar awarded its President's Cup (the highest award given by the State Bar) along with the Award of Merit for community service to the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys.
