With an unwavering passion for helping others feel safe and supported in their homes, Ms. Lewis celebrates an accomplished career as an interior designer. Born and raised in Japan, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in international relations from Tsuda University in 1978. For over 16 years, she worked as a senior television producer for the Cable News Network (CNN) in Tokyo. Though she enjoyed producing fascinating stories, Ms. Lewis did not believe that her position was entirely fulfilling.
Following her tenure with CNN, Ms. Lewis immigrated to the United States to pursue her passion by designing homes that were comfortable and functional. Moreover, she made it her goal to create houses that were mentally supportive. She subsequently obtained an Associate of Arts in interior design, with honors, from the Art Institute of Atlanta. She established herself as an interior designer at Hirsch Bedner Associates from 2001 to 2005 and at Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo from 2005 to 2009. Since 2010, Ms. Lewis has excelled as a principal at Ventus Design.
Throughout her career, Ms. Lewis has been honored with various accolades. Notably, she was a recipient of the National Association of Home Builders' California Homes Award in 2020, the Building Industry Association Award in 2019, the American Society of Interior Designers' Excellence Award in 2015 and the Smart Choice Award in 2013. In 2010, she was presented with the Hawaii Home and Remodeling Magazine Editor's Choice Award, the Building Industry of Association Hawaii's Grand Award and the American Society of Interior Designers' Design Excellence Award of Honor. Additionally, Ms. Lewis was the first Japanese president of the American Society of Interior Designers of the Hawaii chapter (ASID Hawaii).
