Having begun her career in health care in 1987, Ms. Dempsey has enjoyed an exemplary career as a caretaker, nurse, advocate and educator. Presently, she is an adult nurse practitioner and a part-time health evaluator for Signify Health, a position she accepted in 2020. In this capacity, Ms. Dempsey visits the elderly and vulnerable population in their homes with Medicare advantage health plans, and assesses gaps in health care to improve upon their circumstances.
Ms. Dempsey's extensive background has included multiple other positions in the health care sector, from an acute area medical-surgical staff nurse for Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia PA. In 2003, she became an Adult CRNP, her first position at PENN Presbyterian Hemophilia clinic as an adult nurse practitioner. In 2009 she accepted a position at Matrix Medical Network, a home health care service that provides service in all 50 states, where she focused her work on completing health risk assessments between 2009 and 2019. She also spent many years with Bayada Supplemental Staffing in various roles at Magee Rehab, Temple Family Medicine Clinic, the George W. Hill Correctional Facility, and other locations. Additionally, Ms. Dempsey was a tireless educator who taught at Thomas Jefferson University in the school of nursing as a clinical nurse educator and adjunct faculty of the ASN program, Holy Family University as a clinical nurse educator and adjunct faculty of the BSN program, and Acute Rehab-Neuro Rotation-3 Thompson as a clinical nurse educator to senior nursing students.
Long driven to contribute to her local community, Ms. Dempsey first became involved in Nursing as a young child helping her mother care for her younger siblings and babysitting in her neighborhood. Then as a young mother with children of her own. In addition to her status as a registered nurse, she is a licensed nurse practitioner and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Holy Family University since 1987 and a Master of Science in nursing from La Salle University since 2003. Well regarded for her inimitable accomplishments, Ms. Dempsey was recognized by the Bucks County Community College's Goals Program as Most Motivated Person in 1984.
Ms. Dempsey's two sisters have been her inspiration since she was very young. Her older sister Marie started working as an Administrative Assistant in high school and continues her successful career today. Her sister Eileen, pursued a career as an accountant (CPA) after high school at Temple University and remains successful in her career today. Their early career successes incentivized Ms. Dempsey to go after her dream of becoming a nurse. She was also motivated by raising two children as a single parent. While an extremely challenging experience, it has also been equally as rewarding to watch her children, Ted and Terry, grow and strive for their own dreams. Ms. Dempsey's journey has been full of supportive colleagues, friends, and family.
An advocate for positivity, she aims to cement her legacy as someone who has a strong appetite for having fun in favorite pastimes, travel across the United States and also continue to support Off-Broadway over the years with friends and family. Future plans include to continue working with seniors in her community while attending to her present responsibilities.
